What changed my mind... about writing publicly?
I thought about writing in a blog/ channel/ platform for so long. While I write in my journal every night - of things that happened during the day, musings, repetitive thoughts, feelings - I kept toying with the idea of writing in a more publicly accessible way. And not the short sentences kept to certain character limits on social media.
I had a lot of reasons why not to do it:
- I didn’t think I had a voice.
- I had nothing to write about.
- I thought I needed to be a “serious” writer.
- I didn’t have the time.
And on and on the list grew, until I changed my mind.
So here’s what this is going to be a collection of - the things/thoughts/ideas/facts that changed my mind. About myself, how I see the world and everything in it, society, humans, animals, experiences, and more.
Why did I think this was important to write about? Because changing one’s mind is probably the best indicator of learning, especially when presented with new knowledge, information, and facts. It’s a sort of upgrade our minds get, and it ensues I don’t get hijacked by emotions or trends. It’s letting me let go of sunk-cost fallacies. And I keep myself open and evolving.
I’d like to write about this - since it’s the one theme I think about and write about in my journal. Things that made me change my mind about certain things.
Here is the first written admission of my changing my mind about writing - and how it’s not about being the perfect, famous, popular writer with something to say. If it benefits others, then great. But if it helps me learn, practice, and pursue understanding of what it is to be human and living in definitely unprecedented times, then I’ll start.
